3/30

and so begins day 3 of 30 recipes and 30 ingredients with monica. teaching people to make more of their meals at home : one girl at a time!

it's 5:51 pm and i am about to go to bed. don't judge me. i have been up since 5:30 am and feel like i have been going non stop for at least a week, maybe a month! I LOST COUNT! but BOY am i tired. don't worry. this recipe is on time. and i am about to eat it before i go to sleep in a little while. NOM.

i'm trying to bring our bachelorette into the world of cooking slowly because she has been out of it for a while now. i don't want to overwhelm her, so we're easing on in with a recipe RachaelRay would be proud of : BURGERS!!!

but this ain't no ordinary burger. THIS burger is fancy without much work and it tastes like summer. yeah i know, some of you are getting snowed on. but i live in texas for at least another two months and i am going to make all i can out of that fact before i go back to the cold, dreary north. it has merits but i have grown to love texas so. and this week, it has already reached above 90! bring on the summer!

Sun Dried Tomato Turkey Burgers with Basil Aioli

makes about 4

for the burgers:

1 pound of ground turkey
2 big cloves of garlic, minced
salt and pepper
1/2 cup chopped sun dried tomatoes
1 egg

for the aioli:

1/4 cup mayonnaise
juice of one lemon plus zest
2 tsp garlic, minced 1/2 cup basil finely chopped

-combine aioli ingredients, wrap and sit in fridge while preparing burgers.
-combine burger ingredients and cook as per your preference.
-top with a little onion and tomato and our favorite bread! i used a sprouted grain loaf from whole foods but monica used a nice whole wheat roll.

fire up that grill, y'aaaall!

  1. Yum! This recipe reminds me of my most favorite burger in the entire world, el diablo from Koopers tavern in fells point. A turkey burger with jalapeno jack cheese, tomato, onion, avacado and arugla coleslaw.

    So good!

  2. I can't tell you how much I love that you and Mon are doing this. Genius!

I wish we were all in the same city doing it together. Anna, maybe I'll jump in on some of the veggie friendly recipes and snap a few shots and send them to you!
